Lund’s Second Annual Shellfish Festival

. . . was held from May 22nd to May 24th, 2009.  There was standing room only at the Community Kick-Off Chowder Challenge on Friday evening.  With Saturday being beautifully hot and sunny, the food and craft booths did a brisk business.  There were boat tours, kayak and row boats rides, historical walking tours, a group clam dig, and festive music filled the air all day.

Over nine hundred plates of cooked shellfish and hundreds of pounds of live shellfish were sold.  Through recycling and composting, the entire two-day event produced only 2 bags of garbage!

Many thanks to our 2009 sponsors;   Plutonic Power Corporation, Valley Building Supplies, Marine Traders, The Boardwalk Restaurant, Powell River Chamber of Commerce, 95.7 SUN FM, A.M.M.A., Westview Realty, the Shellfish Growers Association, and the Powell River Regional District.  It’s their support that made this event so much fun!
