MILE 0 MARKER PROJECT

In 2009, the community of Lund built a “Mile 0” marker at the location of the beginning/end of Highway 101.

Lund launches the initial/final leg of the Pacific Coastal Highway, one of the longest highways in the world, which ends in Chile, approximately 15,202km south.

The marker is surfaced with locally-supplied split rock. Bollards delineate the marker and handpainted Posterity Tiles are embedded into the step around the base. These tiles are now a part of the history of Lund and will remain for as long at the marker stands. If the marker is ever disassembled, the time capsule inside will reveal items that were of interest in 2009.
