Shellfish Capital of the Sunshine Coast
In 2014, Lund, BC, will be celebrating its 125th anniversary of settlement by two Swedish brothers, Charlie and Freddie Thulin.
Celebrations will extend from May to October. Details are still being finalized however, the general idea is as follows:
Local writers came to Lund to share their work. On May 17, 10am-12noon, Linda Wegner read from her book "3C Success: Changing Careers in Midlife". On May 31, Rosalin Thorpe did a reading.
A newly published book "Lund Then and Now" is available for sale at the Boardwalk Restaurant, Nancy's Bakery, SunLund By-The-Sea Campground, and the Lund Water Taxi. It contains 125 recipes and stories about the history of Lund.
June highlighted Heritage with displays courtesy of the Powell River Museum and Archives Society which is displaying photographs entitled "The Logging Show" on the walls of the Boardwalk Restaurant.
Continuing the book readings, Writer, Amanda Martinson, talked about her publication "Field Guide to Rocks & Minerals" on June 14 from 1pm-3pm on the deck above Nancy's Bakery, beside Pollen Sweaters.

On July 7, from 1pm-3pm, Rayana Blackwell, author of Lund Then and Now With Recipes hosted a book signing on the deck above Nancy's Bakery, beside Pollen Sweaters.
August is Homecoming Month.
August 20 - Lund Dayz, Live music at The Boardwalk Restaurant featured local musician Phil Williams.
August 21 - Lund Dayz, The Beggar's Banquet and an evening of Three Birds On A Wire music at the Laughing Oyster Restaurant.
August 22 - "A Taste of Lund" Festival and Lund Talent Show at 5pm, Live band Shattered Glass in the Lund Pub from 6pm - 10pm.
August 23 - Lund Fun Dayz, The Nail, Sail & Bail Kids' Race, the Kids' Treasure Hunt, Sailing Regatta, Kayak Race, and Lund Run. Local musician, Lukah Bouchard, played at Nancy's Bakery.
August 24 - Lund Dayz, Community Potluck Picnic and acoustic jam at Lund Gazebo at 12noon.
September Enjoy the beautiful fall colours, amazing sunsets, and crisp ocean air.
